Next: Chapter 1 - The Big Bad Wolf

Yeah, so, I am like a crazy adventurous eater. Okay, not like, bugs and things that are still alive and stuff. But regular food, weird mixes... if someone tells me to eat something, I will. Just cause. ...Okay, I would totally eat cooked bugs if someone said they were good. Or chocolate covered. Fine.

Today's adventure: I had gotten out one of those chocolate-flavored Carb Advantage shakes that my Dad likes so much (I prefer the vanilla ones myself, and they actually work well as meal-replacers... and hey, I guess even at the start here I was like 'what the heck, I'll see if I like it'). Then I went into my bedroom and remembered that I had already opened a bottle of the Safeway brand "Clear" flavored water drink... the Orange Creme, to be specific. And my immediate thought was: chocolate oranges. Ya know, like the orange-flavored chocolates they have at Christmas time? Yeah, those are a big hit in my family. So I was like YES. But then I thought about it for a second and was like, wait.... carbonated water drink + more milk-like substance = no. Just, in general, not a good mix. And then, of course, I thought 'Well, could be nasty, could be yummy... One way to find out...'

So here I am, sipping this chocolate orange monstrosity... and hey, it's actually not bad. In fact, I would have to put it under 'yummy' now. It was just kinda 'meh' at first, not nasty but also not really worth the mixing, but now that I've let it sit for a minute (and the ice cubes I had in the chocolate drink originally have begun to melt... I wonder how that affected the mixing... hm...), it actually does taste chocolate-orange-y. Yay!

Mm, yeah, just took another drink... that is some good stuff. I think I shall mix these in the future. Woot! Hm, I wonder if the vanilla would mix well with these drinks? Maybe the strawberry or apple cider flavors...? Hm... Still much experimenting to be done, I think.

Also, had a little adventure last night, though I really do mean little, as I was following a recipe. It has fallen to me to prepare dinner for the household, since I'm the only one home on a consistent basis while I wait to ship to basic training. Last night, I had wanted to make my mother's classic meatloaf - which, believe it or not, is delicious. Anyone who doesn't like meatloaf has been served roadkill that called itself meatloaf. Lies.

So, meatloaf. Not a difficult thing to make. Some ground beef, some herbs, some mashed up crackers, salt... Should have been a breeze, except I couldn't find my mother's recipe. Or the cookbook it came out of. Dang it. So I went online and happened upon this. Very different, almost a Hawaiian type flavor, delicious with sweet & sour sauce. Still not as good as Mom's, but yeah, yummy.



Also: I miss my Curt. :'(
